          Description
Presented here is one of the rarest of all signed Mickey Mantle cards, a near-impossible to find PSA Authentic 1959 Bazooka subject boasting a majestic black sharpie “Mickey Mantle” autograph. The PSA census report lists only a meager four scripted examples versus the nearly 160 “unsigned” Mantle Bazookas. One of the four known specimens previously fetched $23K, and we cannot imagine any of the other three subjects possibly matching the awe-inspiring aesthetics of this ever-elusive Oklahoma Kid rarity. There are an abundance of hobbyists currently building PSA Registry Sets for Mantle signed cards, and simple “Economics 101” tells us that four meager copies isn’t nearly enough to satisfy the collecting community. Indeed, it’s all about supply & demand, and in this case, the “supply” falls way short of the hobbyist’s “demand” to compile all the known autographed Mantle cards issued during his esteemed playing days. The card reveals spectacular aesthetics, with the neat manual cut resulting in near-perfect centering. “The Mick’s” imposing “bat on shoulder” left-handed batting image is breathtaking to say the least as he prepares to blast another horsehide sphere towards the Yankee Stadium rightfield façade, a feat he miraculously accomplished twice in his legendary 18-year “Big Apple” career.  Yet, it is the extremely bold black sharpie Mickey Mantle autograph revealing “9-10” strength that is the heart-stopping highlight of this 66-year-old artifact proudly standing as one of the most compelling signed Mantle subjects!
